My mother is in long term care in Ontario.  I try to visit her every 2 to 3 weeks as I live an hour and 20 mins away.

The last time I went to visit, I called before I left. By the time I got there it was locked down and I was unable to enter. My mother’s home had 1 staff member with a positive COVID test although no cases in the patients at all, and no other staff affected.

Since that time my mom has fallen at least a dozen times, several times with cuts, facial contusions and skin tears.  She goes in and out of recognizing her children and her eyes are failing. She can not properly hold a phone as her hands don’t work properly. She can not see us well through the glass window. Today my sister visited and no phone was available and she had to shout for mom to hear.

My mom has called me several times and asked me to get her out of there, she feels like she is in a jail. She is in a solitary confinement situation for the end of her life.

My siblings and I do not want to undergo Covid testing for obvious reasons, breach of privacy, possible DNA collection or false positive results.  I have been told I can not visit from a distance even outside without an invasive medical test.

I have called my MPP and get condescension and shaming for trying to go against their agenda. I called ministry of Long Term Care and got told to visit via Face Book, which I don’t use.
